I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for entering the 2025 edition of the aQuellé Tour Durban MTB presented by Cycle Lab. It is very unfortunate that we were forced to cancel the event due to the negative impact the weather had on all the preparations in the weeks leading up to the event. No organiser sets out to have an event cancelled for any reason, and obviously it was not only the MTB event that was impacted this year, but also the Trail Run.
As indicated in the most recent event newsletter, in light of the ongoing challenges associated with staging the off-road events, we will no longer be staging a mountain bike or other off-road events linked to the aQuellé Tour Durban, and will instead be focusing on the road elements of the event for the foreseeable future. Apart from the unpredictable weather patterns around that time of the year that have had negative impact on the route and event preparations over the past years, the limitations of the space available in the area impacts on our ability to lay out the type of routes necessary and desired for such an event. These factors mean that we cannot stage the type of event(s) that we want to offer and that everyone deserves.
With the cancellation of this year’s event, all entrants were given a choice at the time to either: a) transfer their MTB entry to the road event; or b) to collect their race pack and T-shirt in lieu of participating; or c) to defer their entry to the 2026 edition of the event. While many people chose options a) and b), there are a number of people, like you, that selected to defer their entry to the 2026 event, and with the event no longer being staged, this obviously has impact on this group.
As the event organisers, we want to ensure that we treat all entrants fairly, and so the following options are offered to you at this time:
1) Donate your entry fee for the 2025 event to the Domino Foundation, the official charity beneficiary of the event, or
2) Have your entry fee refunded to you.
We need to get all processes around the 2025 event resolved at the earliest so all charity disbursements can be done before we start the 2026 aQuellé Tour Durban journey. To this end, your decision on what you would like to happen with your entry fee is required by midday on Monday, 22nd September 2025. Please note that if no response is received from you by then, it will be assumed that you wish to have your entry fee donated to the Domino Foundation. All disbursements and refunds will then be completed by close of business on Monday 29th September 2025.

NOTE 2: So as not to spam people, each e-mail address only receives one mail, so if more than one entrant entered under identical e-mail addresses only one offer of a refund will be sent. If you had more than one entrant on the same e-mail, please submit a form for each entrant separately.
