Hi again aQuellé Tour Durban rider!

The deadline to get your race entries in so you qualify for the Cycle Lab Early Bird Entry Competition is looming large. So large in fact, that today is D-Day, and if you have not secured your entry before midnight tonight (Friday, March 10th 2023) then you will not be in line for the free gifts from Cycle Lab.

To win one of the prizes in the Cycle Lab Early Bird Entry Competition, all you have to do is sign up to take part in Durban’s annual favourite cycling weekend. Yes, just entering the aQuellé Tour Durban road race or the aQuellé Tour Durban MTB powered by Cycle Lab will give you an entry to the lucky draw for some cycling equipment from Cycle Lab. If you enter both races, you will be in line for two prizes, because each entry into the event gives you an entry into the lucky draw.

There are eight different prizes split between the road race entrants and the MTB entrants. The prizes include things like helmets, gloves, sunglasses and bicycle pumps (floor and on-bike).

Statistical Sisterhood

Collection, collation and capture, followed by analysis and interpretation … that’s the stuff of the Research and Evaluation department at The Domino Foundation. 

The duo who negotiate the barrage of statistics coming onto their desks from Domino’s eight programmes are Thembelihle Mkhwanazi and Leigh-Ann Stevens. 

“We owe it to the thousands of beneficiaries on the programmes and to our donors and sponsors to keep on top of the stats so that we can evaluate how effective we are in what we do,’ says Thembelihle. “The figures gathered by our field workers represent the vulnerable people whose lives we work to transform. 

“Domino’s ‘cradle-to-career’ vision may sometimes look like cold columns of numbers on our computer screens, but we see a story in those numbers. That can help the programmes’ teams change one individual at a time, then a community and then the nation.”

Leigh-Ann adds; “It’s pretty obvious we are not biological sisters, but we share such a passionate commitment to Domino’s accountability to all our stake-holders to demonstrate good stewardship in all the foundation does, that we really are of one heart and do have a strong sisterly relationship.”

Asked whether they would respond to aQuellé Tour Durban’s call of  #familyfunforeveryone and don their cycling helmets, they answered as one: “We are working on the stats on whether we will actually finishing the course … once all the data is in and analysed, we will make an informed decision!”
