Sunday, 19th April, 2026 – That is TD-Day when the new-look aQuellé Tour Durban will take place next year, but riders have a few more dates to look forward to before then.

DISCOUNT ENTRY WEEK 1: 27th October-3rd November

Race Day is still more than 180 days away, but in less than two weeks bargain hunters will be able to grab an entry for 85% of the normal entry fees. This "firesale" discounted price will last from 27th October until 3rd November after which entries will close until a second discount sale in November.

NEW FORMAT

As already announced, the 2026 aQuellé Tour Durban will see some major changes, with all the off-road elements removed and all the racing taking place on the Sunday. Registration will still be held on Friday and Saturday, but there will not be any mountain biking or trail running events. That is because the aQuellé Tour Durban is going back to its roots and focusing solely on the road race, with the intention of keeping the event as KZN's premier road cycling event.

The second major change is that for 2026 there will be five races on 19th April, with a new 96km distance joining the traditional 68km, 42km and 28km distances, while a new invitation-only event will give the racing snakes something to aim for, and add spectator interest. This exciting new race, for the elite, professional and faster riders, will take place after the other four races have finished, thus removing the need for the fastest racers and slower social riders to be on the course at the same time. The 100km invitation race, with prize money for the winners, will be strictly limited so only invited riders will be on the course during this event.

TWO NEW SERIES

By now you should already know about the The Hills and Waves Road Cycling Series presented by MD24, which kicked off at last month's Brink Karkloof Road Classic. The second leg of this six-race series will be this weekend in Dundee, when the Biggarsberg Road Challenge takes place on Sunday.

There will be more events in November, December, March next year and the series will culminate at the 2026 aQuellé Tour Durban with points leaders qualifying for the invitation race and other lucky draw prizes. The second new series, which starts with the Biggarsberg Road Challenge this weekend is the KZN Cycling Schools Road Series presented by aQuellé. This finale of this five-event series, aimed at developing young cycling talent, will also be the aQuellé Tour Durban.
